The towering defender feels he was "lucky" with his winning goal and acknowledged the challenge posed by APOEL on Tuesday
Gerard Pique has admitted that he was lucky to score in Barcelona 's 1-0 Champions League win over APOEL, claiming Lionel Messi did all the hard work for his winner.
The Spain international found the net after 28 minutes of play to help the Catalans to a hard-fought victory in their Group F opener after fine work from the Argentina captain.
"I was lucky to score – I don't normally – but I had a great opportunity and it turned out to be the winning goal," Pique told reporters.
"Lionel Messi delivered a really good ball for me and I had only to put it in the net.
"So I'm happy for the win, for the performance and for the three points because starting with a victory is always important and we can now focus on the next Liga game."
